Club President Marty Alsford has championed this campaign and has motivated our members to take part in MOVEMBER. So for the whole of November, club members will either grow a moustache or wear bright lipstick to raise awareness and money for the following great causes detailed below.
Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.
We continuously challenge the status quo, and invest quickly in what works. In 15 years we’ve funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world helping to reduce the number of cases of Prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and to raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention – we’re taking them all on.
By 2030 we’ll reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%.
Rotary Club member, Cookie (Anthony Lange) from Primal Bliss, is coming clean during Movember. Instead of growing a mo he is removing his beard & mo in stages which is a brave move considering he hasn’t been clean shaven for many years. If you see Cookie at the various markets around town please support him in his effort to support Movember. To donate go to https://au.movember.com/donate/details?teamId=2352880
What is Liptember?
A campaign dedicated to raising funds and awareness for women’s mental health, harnessing the true potential of the collective, encouraging and inspiring people to listen, share, and learn.
Helping start the conversation off, by popping a little colour on; individuals are encouraged to register online and seek sponsorship from family, friends and co-workers for committing to wear the lippy throughout September.
Funds raised during the month are donated to the Centre for Women’s Mental Health, Lifeline, Batyr, RUOK?, The Jean Hailes Foundation and The Pretty Foundation.
