The New Art Show Committee

The new Art Show Coordinating Committee is a blend of experienced and new enthusiastic members, all keen to bring fresh ideas to keep the Art Show moving forward. Unfortunately our previous Chairman, David Elliot has relocated to Adelaide for work purposes and will be a big loss to the Art Show committee. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the 2022 committee which is a great blend of experience and fresh ideas.

Chairman: John Mowling – who has been managing Entries for a number of years. John is taking on this role with great support from all Rotary members.

Administration:  Tim Shierlaw – Tim has a wealth of Art Show knowledge, having held most positions on the committee including Chairman for a number of years.

Treasurer: Jackie Hart – Jackie has been an efficient club secretary and is excited about getting more involved in the Art Show.

Entries: Helen Parsons – Helen was previously the Art Show treasurer and is looking forward to working closer with the Artists

Sponsorship: Julie Irwin – Immediate Past President Julie with her effervescent personality has easily fitted into this role and introduced a number of new sponsors to the Art Show

Functions: Judith Phillips – Judith is also an experienced member of the Art Show committee and has successfully managed numerous functions for us especially under the  Covid period.

Publicity: Shirley Sunter – Shirley is the club marketing chair and has some exciting ideas for promoting the Art Show.

We also have a fantastic sub committee consisting of a dedicated group of people who will assist in special areas.

About the Victor Harbor Art Show

The benefits of a show such as this are varied and many. Not only have we raised over $1.5 million dollars for local, national and overseas projects, and we have given many artists the opportunity to display their talents and sell their work.  The growing success of the Art Show can be attributed to the continuing support of our sponsors, volunteers, artists, The City of Victor Harbor and the local community. Such a large undertaking would not be possible without our sponsors.

The Victor Harbor Art Show is a very special annual event organised by Victor Harbor Rotary, and it continues to grow in strength and popularity year after year. This year was Victor Harbor Rotary’s 42ndArt Show and it has become an integral part of the culture of Victor Harbor and many people look forward each year to the event.

The Art Show is Australia’s largest outdoor art exhibition. It continues to break all records, with the sales of artwork in excess of $300,000, over 10,000 people attending the event over nine days viewing in excess of 1,600 paintings on display.

The Art Show is held in a marquee on Warland Reserve, Victor Harbor, SA during January each year during the towns’ peak tourism period. Over 300 paintings are couriered from interstate, recognising the event as a highly regarded art exhibition.

The 42nd Award winning Victor Harbor Art Show was held at Warland Reserve in Victor Harbor from Saturday 9 January 2021 to Saturday 16 January 2021. The Opening Preview Night took place the next day, on Friday 8 January 2021 and this was also a great success. The event was opened by Premier of South Australia, Steven Marshall, who gave a great speech. He was accompanied by MP David Basham and Mayor of Victor Harbor, Moira Jenkins. The food had fav reviews and we thank Cookie and team for all their hard work in creating such a tasty spread. Later in the evening our Mayor, Moira Jenkins spoke and announced that the Victor Harbor Art Show has won the Best Event Award in SA for 2020 which is a great honour for both Rotary Victor Harbor and the City of Victor Harbor. Also we also sold around $53,000 worth of art on the night so it truly was a super evening!

So over the 2 nights we sold 116 pieces of artwork.
